Last Leaf Productions presents several touring programs each season. Each play is approximately 45 minutes in length followed by a brief visit with the actors to sign autographs or answer questions. The plays are interactive and appropriate for young audiences between ages three and twelve - but are designed to engage and entertain parents and older children as well. For study guides and additional information on each play, visit our "Parents & Educatiors" page.

"Yeh-Shen" is an original adaptation of an old Chinese folk tale about a considerate young girl who lives with her stepmother and stepsister. She is forced to be a servant in the cave where they live. Her only friend is a golden fish that lives in a small pool in the cave. The fish is magic and he speaks to Yeh-Shen. With the help of her magical fish, Yeh-Shen finds happiness in spite of her stepmother's selfish plans. She meets her prince and, of course, lives 'happily ever after'.

This popular favorite is an
interactive mystery
featuring the characters
from Alice in Wonderland.
Perfect for the holiday
season and the cold winter
weather, this adventure play
is adapted from a
Scandinavian folk tale.
Last Leaf presents this totally original play about Bigfoot - not the Sasquatch
kind, but the kind of person who leaves a giant carbon footprint. In this
production, a teenager named Joslyn is mistaken for the mythical 'Bigfoot'
because of the enormous carbon footprints she is leaving behind. Through
games, songs , and some very silly costumes, Professor Leslie Lookout and
wildlife expert, Rodney McAdoo, give Joslyn some useful pointers to help her
make her carbon footprint much smaller and educate her about the history of
fossil fuels and energy.
Last Leaf is currently seeking funding to enable us to offer free performances
of this program to qualified schools and libraries during the spring and fall of
2009. If you are interested in applying, please contact us before January 30th.

Last Leaf has begun taking bookings for our
2012 touring season. Beginning in October
we will be offering two plays adapted from
Ancient Greek fables and legends and one
very new play based on a folktale from South
America. 'Aesop's Fables' is a collection of
some of the Greek storyteller's most popular
tales interwoven into a fun and high-energy
program. Also, from ancient Greece, the tale
of 'Hercules and the Golden Apple' is an
adaptation of one of the iconic hero's
famous labors- retrieving an apple from
Hera's favorite garden. It is full of colorful
mythical characters. Adding to these
programs, in May we will also offer 'The
Dreaming Tree', a magical tale about a
young boy who is given knowledge by a wise
and magical creature while sleeping
beneath a special tree. The people in the
village become envious of his new-found
abilities and the boy must decide to stay and
help his friend or leave to live on his own.
A BIG Thank- you to the Tulalip Tribes Community Fund, Kelly Foundation and to the Lucky Seven Foundation for their help in bringing our programs to the children and communities of Western Washington.

On June 6th we had Last Leaf Productions present "The Emperor
and the Nightingale" at Elger Bay & Utsalady elementary schools
here on Camano. The students were completely engaged with the
compelling way the actors presented this age-old folk tale. The
programs, funded by the Sno-Isle Foundation, were presented to
get students excited about summer reading. Research shows that
kids who read consistently over the summer maintain the reading
skills they work so hard to acquire during the school year. Public
libraries have a long tradition of partnering with schools in order to
keep children reading all summer long.
